Training Materials

In NSBA's ongoing efforts to share resources with you, these training resources may be useful in Key Work Training sessions. Each resourceĀ document is authored and provided by Joseph S. Villani, NSBA Deputy Executive Director, who intends for you to use the material as you need. He used themĀ at a recent meeting in New Mexico and gained rave reviews!

Methodology

Dr. Villani used the below resources by first showing and explaining The Key Work of School Boards via his slide presentation. After discussing the presentation, he asked the group to divide into 7-8 member teams and assigned each team, a table around which the team could work together. Dr. Villani then asked the table-teams to provide one year of meeting agendas that included local school board discussions for each Key Work area. Dr. Villani demonstrated a meeting agenda around the key area, "vision," using the below Sample Agenda worksheet.

After each table discussed each Key Work area, Dr. Villani asked them to document their ideas and then share their ideas with a nearby table. After allowing time for this discussion, Dr. Villani asked each table to then provide a scheduled plan (using the below Sample Calendar) indicating precisely when they would implement the proposed agendas back in their district meetings.
