2009 Winner: Atlanta Public Schools, Georgia
Atlanta Public Schools was the winner of the sixth CUBE Annual Award for Urban School Board Excellence. Broward County Public Schools was selected as the finalist for the award. Baltimore City, Md., Wake County, N.C., and Jefferson County, Ky. were recognized for progress and leadership, respectively.

2008 Winner: Brownsville Indpendent School District, Texas
Brownsville Indpendent School District, was the winner of the fifth CUBE Annual Award for Urban School Board Excellence. Omaha, Nebraska Schools and the Chula Vista, California Elementary Schools, California were selected as finalists for the award.

2007 Joint Winners: Houston Independent School District, TX and Miami-Dade Public Schools, FL
Houston Independent School District of Houston, TX and Miami-Dade County Public Schools of Miami, FL were selected as joint winners of the fourth CUBE Annual Award for Urban School Board Excellence. Fort Worth Independent School District of Fort Worth, TX was selected as a finalist for the award.

2006 Winner: Norfolk Public Schools, VA
Norfolk Public Schools of Norfolk, VA, was the winner of the third CUBE Annual Award for Urban School Board Excellence. Houston Independent School District and the Miami-Dade County Public Schools were selected as finalists of the award.

2005 Winner: School District of Hillsborough County, FL
The School District of Hillsborough County, FL, was the winner of the second CUBE Annual Award for Urban School Board Excellence. Virginia's Norfolk Public Schools and Texas' San Antonio Independent School District were selected as finalists for the award. 2004 Winner: Boston School Committee, Boston, MA
The Boston School Committee was selected as the winner of the first CUBE Annual Award for Urban School Board Excellence. Chula Vista Elementary School District in California and Norfolk Public Schools in Virginia were selected as finalists for the award.
