    This organization works with more than 700 schools in 33 states to enhance student learning and improve community life by engaging students in community-based public work. Its policy work seeks to understand complex issues affecting rural schools and communities; to inform the public debate over rural education policy; and to help rural communities act on education policy issues affecting them. This site provides a gateway to original research, full text documents, useful links, and to other people concerned about the future of rural America.

    A Web site for and about rural schools. Developed by the Education Department's National Center for Education Statistics, it provides links to timely data and information on conditions in rural America.

    The National Rural Education Association (NREA) is the oldest established national organization of its kind and traces its origins to 1907 when it was founded as the Department of Rural Education. It has evolved as a respected organization of rural school administrators, teachers, board members, regional service agency personnel, researchers, business and industry representatives and others interested in maintaining the visibility of rural school systems across America.
