Richard Lewis was appointed executive director of the Ohio School Boards Association on September 30, 2006.
Lewis, a native of Amherst, Ohio, joined OSBA in 1984 as a labor relations specialist. He went on to serve as a policy specialist and business and marketing manager. He also has held numerous leadership positions within the association, including deputy director of information services, director of labor relations and management services, and director of communication and information services. He was promoted to deputy executive director in 2002 and served in that position until becoming interim executive director in July 2006.
Lewis serves on numerous state and national committees, and also represents OSBA on the Coalition for Ohio's Future, a coalition of 12 education organizations that is crafting a constitutional amendment to address Ohio's school funding problems.
He is a graduate of Ohio University, where he earned bachelor's and master's degrees in business administration. He also holds the designation of Certified Association Executive (CAE) from the American Society of Association Executives and is certificated in convention management by the American Society of Association Executives.
Lewis belongs to the Buckeye Association of School Administrators, American Association of School Administrators, Ohio Society of Association Executives, American Society of Association Executives and National Association of Superintendent Searchers.
Lewis and his wife Laura are the parents of two sons, Jason and Jacob.
