Kevin McCann became Executive Director in July 2004 after serving two years as OSBA's Community and Agency Liaison, focusing on building collaborative relationships with OSBA members and the associations, state agencies and other organizations interested in or affecting public education.

He brings to the position strong leadership skills (having worked as a trainer and facilitator), knowledge of Oregon’s schools (K-12 through higher education), and experience as a lobbyist and advocate. He is committed to maintaining a climate of collaboration and productivity in service to OSBA members and to Oregon’s public school children.

McCann currently serves on the Governor’s Literacy Leadership State Steering Committee, which is writing a statewide literacy improvement plan for Oregon.

McCann has a degree in economics from Oregon State University and a long record of work and service at OSU. Before joining OSBA, he was director of Corporate and Foundation Relations for the Oregon State University Foundation. Other positions include director of Community and Government Relations at OSU and associate director of Alumni Relations for the OSU Alumni Association.

McCann has been active in civic organizations including serving on the boards of the Corvallis Convention and Visitors Association and the Corvallis Riverfront Commission, and as President of the Boys and Girls Club.

He and his wife, Julie, live in Salem and have two grown sons.
