  Online social networking is now so deeply embedded in the lifestyles of tweens and teens that it rivals television for their attention, according to a new study from Grunwald Associates LLC conducted in cooperation with the National School Boards Association.
  
• CyberSmart! FREE Cyberbullying Curriculum (Free Downloadable Package)
  NSBA's Technology Leadership Network is pleased to partner with CyberSmart! to distribute the free CyberSmart! cyberbullying prevention lessons to K-12 schools nationwide. This set of lessons adopts an integrated approach, examining all current research findings and using best practices from the fields of cyber security, school violence prevention, and character education to impact behavioral change. Together, these materials offer schools the opportunity to begin a dialogue with students and build a sustained cyberbullying prevention campaign to continually remind the school community about safe, ethical online use. Standards-based teacher lesson plans, student activity sheets, home connections, prevention activities, and optional Web 2.0 strategies are included. • The Official School Administrator’s Guide to understanding MySpace and resolving Social Networking Issues [PDF 1,262,383kb]
  The MySpace Administrator's Guide was prepared for use by superintendents, principals, guidance counselors, and school resource officers who find an online posting to be disruptive to their school community. MySpace has provided dedicated educator "hotline" e-mail and phone numbers in the guide to expedite the response time of the MySpace staff in addressing educator concerns. NSBA prepared a cover letter for the guide which MySpace disseminated to 55,000 principals and 15,000 superintendents. Therefore, PLEASE do not reproduce or widely distribute this particular version of the MySpace Administrator's Guide to non-school personnel. MySpace has developed other material and contact numbers for parents to use should they have personal concerns about a child's site. In addition, we are expecting a revised pdf version of this brochure within a couple of weeks which will not include the "hotline" numbers and which you will be able to share with others. Should you have any questions, please contact Ann Flynn, aflynn@nsba.org. We do not have hard copies of the Guide.
