General session speakers include Daymond John, founder/CEO of FUBU and star of ABC’s “Shark Tank” on Saturday. Sunday’s keynote speakers are Gregg Behr and Ryan Rydzewski, who will discuss their book, When You Wonder, You’re Learning, which explores the science behind “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.” Closing out as the general session speaker on Monday is Liz Murray, the co-founder and executive director of The Arthur Project. Her story of overcoming odds was made into the movie “Homeless to Harvard.”

Our Equity Councils meal events are back with exciting speakers. These events are by ticket only, so make sure to ask about them when you register. The Council of Urban Boards of Education luncheon on Saturday will feature Joseph Johnson. He is the executive coach and founding director of the National Center for Urban School Transformation at the San Diego State University Research Foundation.

Also on Saturday, the National Hispanic Council of School Board Members luncheon will feature Richard Montañez, former vice president of multicultural sales and community activation with PepsiCo North America. 

Sunday’s National American Indian/Alaska Native Council of School Board Members breakfast speaker will be Brian Weeden. He is chairman of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Council and School Committee Member, Mashpee Public Schools, Massachusetts.

Christopher Emdin, author, professor, education advocate, and social critic at the University of Southern California, will be the National Black Council of School Board Members luncheon speaker.

Make sure to stop by the Exhibit Hall on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. each day to participate in this year’s community service project. You will have the opportunity to repackage food for weekend food programs, stuff backpacks with school supplies, and provide a special note of encouragement to a student.
