Is your district leading the way?

Share your insights, experiences, and innovative solutions by submitting a proposal for the NSBA 2025 Annual Conference in Atlanta, April 4-6. The submission window closes Friday, August 2, 2024.

  • Submission Guidelines
    • It is strongly advised that presentations include at least one school board member as part of the panel of presenters.

    • All presenters/organizations from districts in member states of NSBA submitting proposals must be members in good standing of their respective state school boards association. Submissions from presenters/organizations in non-member states will be accepted.

    • This conference is a noncommercial forum. Under no circumstances may a breakout session be used for direct promotion of a product, service, or monetary self-interest. Sales pitches disguised as presentations will not be considered.

    • This process is not open to proposals from corporate/industry entities; however, education sessions are available for conference sponsors. For more information, please contact Karen Miller.

    • Please do not type any part of your proposal in all capital or lowercase letters, do not use acronyms or abbreviations, and please do not send any attachments or supplemental materials—they will not be reviewed.

    • Breakout sessions will run 75-90 minutes in length and will be scheduled throughout the conference. Successful applicants must be available to present any day of the conference (Saturday, April 5 - Sunday, April 6) in order to ensure an even dispersal of content.

  • Focus Areas

    NSBA is accepting proposals from school districts and other organizations for breakout sessions that focus on topics of critical interest to school board members. Primary focus areas include:

    • Board Governance, Oversight, & Accountability
      Roles and responsibilities of school board members including but not limited to: governance models and executive leadership development for school boards; board/superintendent relationships; funding and budgeting; strategic planning).

    • Innovations in District Operations & Facilities  
      Procurement practices, planning, and design related to improving district operations and facilities including but not limited to: construction and maintenance; green buildings initiatives, transportation solutions.

    • Equity & Inclusion
      Strategies and practices related to promoting diversity and inclusion in education including but not limited to: addressing disparities in access to resources and opportunities; strategies for fostering an inclusive school culture; and promoting student voice.

    • Safe, Supportive, & Healthy Schools
      Establishing and sustaining positive and supportive school cultures and learning communities in ways including but not limited to: developing and implementing effective safety protocols and procedures; addressing mental health and well-being of students and staff; crisis response planning and preparedness; and overall health supports and resources.

    • Staff Development & Student Achievement
      The hiring and retention of high level teachers, administrators, and support staffs in areas including but not limited to: special education and student support services; providing access to high level curriculum; development of unique learning opportunities, programming + instruction (such as CTE programs, Experiential Learning, arts, athletics, early college courses, personalized learning); and utilizing data to drive decision-making and measure success.

    • Classrooms of the Future (Technological advances to enhance teaching and learning)
      Technological advances to enhance teaching and learning in areas including but not limited to: understanding and leveraging Artificial Intelligence; ensuring equitable access to technology for all students; and addressing challenges and opportunities of digital learning environments.

    • School Law & Policy
      Understanding and navigating education laws and regulations in areas including but not limited to: compliance and district policy & procedures; and Supreme Court and other federal case law.

    • Family & Community Engagement
      Building positive relationships with stakeholders such as parents, caretakers, and community areas in areas including but not limited to: effective communication strategies for school boards; and engaging parents and caregivers, students, and community members in decision-making
