As leaders in the education community, it is our goal -- if not our obligation -- to ensure that students are equipped with the skills they need to lead a successful and fulfilling life. Too often though that is not the case. We have convened the leadership of major business and trade membership organizations to develop recommendations for school districts to assist high school graduates in developing the skills essential to succeed in most of life's endeavors.

NSBA and the Society for Human Resource Management has convened leading business organizations to develop the Commission to Close the Skills Gap. Following the release of their report earlier this year, the commission has developed a goal to create a 1,000 new school district-business partnerships by the end of 2020.
